A hardy plant from the Bromeliad family which is made up of silver-grey strands, when given time to mature will clump giving the appearance of a beard, hence the common name (Old Mans Beard). Conditions required to grow this species is mottled light to shade which makes it an ideal choice for around the verandah, fernery or the shade house, enjoying regular watering.
